Welcome to the CTHIS blog page!

It's long been a dream of mine to own a private business. I honestly wouldn't have guessed that it would be a home inspection business, but I suppose there are other - shall we say - less desirable, occupations out there. In any case, I intend to use this page on the website as a way to provide valuable information regarding my trade to visitors of the site. But for today I think it would be best to just provide a little bit of my background and my experiences so far.

So, I am 34 years old and married to the most amazing, incredible and supportive woman. Together, we have two wonderful sons who are 7 and 5 and full of energy. Just a few years ago we were living in northwest Pennsylvania, firmly planted within the lake effect snow belt, suffering the snowy winters. After much deliberation we finally decided it was time to leave. At the time, my wife's best friend had already been living here in New Bern for many years, and we would often visit over holidays. It took many years to finally take the leap and leave PA, even though we always knew where we wanted to end up. But let me tell you, having that familiarity with the area certainly helped with the transition.
New Bern is Historic and Beautiful
We absolutely love the history of the area, the laid back culture and the southern hospitality. New Bern is a gem. Our boys have integrated comfortably into the school system, joined the local baseball league and made friends and their happiness and success is what makes that incredibly difficult choice of leaving behind everyone and everything in PA totally worthwhile.
Why Home Inspections?
Well, its simple actually. Several of our friends here in town happen to be realtors, and I kept hearing from them about their need for a home inspector. They kept mentioning that they were having trouble getting one scheduled. That piqued my interest in the industry and led me down this path of becoming a home inspector and opening my own business. I didn't choose home inspections because I planned to get rich off it, or to build an empire, or to corner the market in some way. I chose it because I recognized that there was a need for it. A need for a high quality, personalized, modern service, provided directly to the community by a community member. That's it.
Credit Where Credit is Due
Truthfully, I owe a lot of the credit to my wife. She is the one who convinced me to listen to what our friends were saying. And, while I was stuck on the fence considering whether or not it would be worth the risk and the effort, she is the one who gave me the shove I needed. She is also the one who has sacrificed the most over this period of time. I can't thank her enough for everything she has done and continues to do!
Thanks For Dropping In
Well, now that that's all been said, I think its time to say our goodbyes. I hope this post has given you the opportunity to get to know me a little bit better and to peer inside my mindset a little bit. Before you go, consider checking out the other blog post or visiting the other pages to learn more. And if you're in the market for a home inspector go ahead and use the online scheduler to book your next appointment!
Until we meet in person, Zac
